In 1978, Glory Joy Christian Church started a Nursery class with about 40 children, under the leadership of Reverend Matthew Ding. The Nursery Classes were held at the Church rented premises at Jalan Kuras at that time. |

In 1986, the nursery classes were suspended when the church moved to Imperial Theatre at Thomson Road for Worship Services. In the same year, the Church purchased a property at 589A, Sembawang Place and moved in 1987. In the same year, the Church restarted the Kindergarten, serving the children from Yishun and Sembawang Housing Estates. Mr Richard Lam was appointed as Executive Director (volunteer) and Ms Sin Joo Ee was the principal of the kindergarten at that time. It was during this time that the kindergarten was named Glory Joy Child Development Centre. Mrs Mimi Chu took over as the principal of the centre in 1992 when Ms Sin went for further studies. |

Glory Joy kindergarten stopped its operation in the church premise in 2000 when the Church no longer worship at 589A. In 2000, the Church obtained the permission to rent the present premises at 501B Wellington Circle from HDB through the help of the Member of Parliament of Sembawang. We started the renovation work on 4th June 2000 and completed at the end of 2000. Since then, we have changed the operation of the kindergarten to that of a Child Care Centre from January 2001. |

Glory Joy Child Development Centre was officially opened by the Member of Parliament of Sembawang, Mr K. Shanmugam on 5th May 2001. The principal was Ms Allison Wong. |

In 2005, Ms Allison Wong left the centre for her own business and Ms Angela Soh Cheng Choo was appointed the principal of the Centre. |
